In Fall 2018 and Fall 2019 I taught as an Adjunct Professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), within their Product Design Department.

In this 300 level course, students learned tools and techniques used for communicating design intent in industry and how to present themselves through means of using storytelling to create a compelling portfolio and present their work for internships. This hybrid course included the following topics (and more): 3D modeling, Rendering, 3D Printing, Portfolio/Website design, Product Photography, Resume/Cover letter development.

Course summary and a sample of student work below:

Communication Platforms in Design.

The processes and methods of communicating design intentions and engaging different audiences are the central focus of this class. Students explore a number of non-digital and digital tools and platforms, including product photography, writing, portfolio development, social networks, and web design. The emphasis is on finding clarity in presenting individual work in different media, and being sensitive to the possibilities and limitations of both digital and non-digital platforms.
